What to search for by category

Good search terms are specific enough to narrow results, but not so specific that you only see one seller or one version. Use the category as your anchor, then add shape, material, color, or season.

Shoes

Try terms such as low sneaker, chunky sneaker, running shoe, retro sneaker, skate shoe, or black sneaker. If the result set is too broad, add a color or silhouette.

Hoodies and sweaters

Useful terms include cropped hoodie, zip hoodie, washed hoodie, heavyweight hoodie, knit sweater, and oversized sweater. Check length and sleeve shape carefully in QC photos.

T-shirts and jerseys

Search graphic tee, heavyweight tee, boxy tee, football jersey, mesh jersey, or washed t shirt. For tees, fit and fabric weight usually matter more than the product title.

Jackets and outerwear

Start with bomber jacket, varsity jacket, denim jacket, windbreaker, puffer jacket, or work jacket. For outerwear, compare zippers, lining, collar shape, and sleeve volume.

Pants, bags, and accessories

For pants, use cargo pants, wide leg pants, denim, shorts, or track pants. For bags, search tote bag, shoulder bag, crossbody, backpack, or nylon bag. Accessories work best with direct terms like sunglasses, cap, belt, ring, or scarf.
